ABOUT VALERIA
As a child of immigrant parents, I had the opportunity to view the world through a lens of diversity. Born and raised here in El Paso, Texas, I have always held a deep admiration for the uniqueness of border culture and art. This has been a guide for my love of producing content with the purpose of educating.
I aim to provide representation of persons of different cultures and culture like mine. I aim to contribute to a more compassionate world and to understand the purpose of art. Because of this, I specialize in arts, culture and social/political content and art.
I see all artforms as timeless tools that have the power to mold our social world. With over 10 years of experience in the field, I continue to find new ways to do just that.
I hope to continue to work with great people, and great artist. I hope to continue to contribute to the world through my work. I hope to continue to be a part of the art that impacts so many of us with diverse backgrounds.
Let's make art together.

Master of Arts in Communication

My research throughout the completion of my master's degree surrounded Latine identity formation in our digital media environment. Using the photovoice research method as a guide, I completed a solo exhibition combining elements from documentary film, portraiture and exhibit practices like participatory and interactive elements which explored the experience of identity formation through the lens of border people who are from Neither Here Nor There. I received the Dodson research grant to pursue my exhibit and research, and I was accepted as a speaker as part of a panel discussion at the National Communication Association National Conference while receiving other grants which fully funded my trip to Washington D.C.. Received a 4.0 GPA.
